What is a Safe-keeping fee?

Modified on Thu, 12 Feb at 1:36 PM

A safekeeping fee is an administrative charge for holding certain investments in safe custody with Calamatta Cuschieri Moneybase. It typically applies to international and unlisted bonds and/or equities that we hold for you with our custody network. The fee helps cover custody, record-keeping, and the operational handling of corporate actions and income on these assets. It is separate from trading fees and does not depend on your investment performance.

How and when the fee is charged, and which instruments it applies to, are set out in our official fee schedule. You will see any charge on your statement under a safekeeping or custody line, and taxes may apply depending on your circumstances.

If you are unsure whether a specific holding is subject to safekeeping fees, please check the fee schedule here: Rates or ask us in the in-app chat and we will confirm for your exact instrument.
