Some ETFs are not available to retail investors in the EU because they do not publish a Key Information Document (KID). EU rules require a KID for retail clients. Many US-domiciled ETFs do not provide one, so the app will block new buys for retail status. If you already hold the ETF, you can usually keep it or sell it, but you will not be able to add more.
Can I get access as a Professional Client?
Possibly. Under MiFID rules, if you meet at least 2 of these 3 tests, you can ask us to treat you as a Professional Client for trading:
You have made transactions of significant size on the relevant market at an average of 10 per quarter over the last 12 months.
You have worked in the financial sector for at least 1 year in a role that required knowledge of these products or services.
Your financial instruments portfolio, including cash deposits, is over €500,000.
If you think you qualify, open the in-app chat and we will guide you through the categorisation request. If you prefer, call +356 25 688 688 or email support@moneybase.com.
What can I buy instead as a retail client?
Look for a UCITS ETF that tracks the same or a similar index and has a KID. In the app, search for the index or theme, open the instrument page, and check the Documents section. If a KID is available, you will see it there and the Buy button will be enabled if the market is open. We do not recommend specific products, but we are happy to help you find the documents for any ETF you are considering.
