How is my money protected? Understanding Moneybase's Insurance Cover

Modified on Fri, 6 Nov at 9:41 AM

At Moneybase, protecting your money is a top priority.

Client money held with Moneybase is kept in dedicated safeguarding accounts with reputable European credit institutions. These funds are held separately from Moneybase's own funds, reconciled daily and ring-fenced from Moneybase's creditors.

Moneybase also has a safeguarding insurance policy in place, providing clients with an extra layer of protection.

What does the insurance cover?

In the highly unlikely event that Moneybase becomes insolvent and the safeguarding accounts hold less than clients are owed, the policy covers the shortfall, whatever the cause, up to €5,000,000.

This €5,000,000 represents the total aggregate limit across all Moneybase clients collectively, rather than a separate €5,000,000 limit for each individual client or account.

This insurance is an additional layer of protection over and above the existing safeguarding arrangements.

Any payment under the insurance policy is made into the safeguarded client accounts for the benefit of clients and can never be paid to Moneybase.

Who is covered?

All Moneybase clients are automatically covered by the insurance policy.

  • Complimentary cover: There is no additional cost to clients.
  • No registration required: Clients are automatically covered.
  • Coverage period: Coverage applies while you remain a Moneybase client and while Moneybase maintains the policy.

The policy is underwritten by Lloyd's of London and Starr Europe Insurance Limited. Starr Europe Insurance Limited, which leads the policy, is based in Malta and regulated by the Malta Financial Services Authority (MFSA).
