Fraudsters sometimes send fake SMS messages or emails pretending to be from Moneybase. These messages may contain links to websites that look similar to our official site and ask you to enter your mobile number, passcode, and one-time password (OTP). This type of scam is known as phishing.

Once this information is entered, fraudsters can attempt to use your credentials to access your real Moneybase account.

What to look out for

Phishing scams typically:

  • Arrive as SMS or email, urging immediate action

  • Direct you to fake websites with lookalike domains (e.g. www.moneybasemb.com)

  • Ask you to confirm sensitive details like mobile number, passcode, OTP, or PIN

  • Use language that creates panic or urgency (e.g. “Your account has been locked”, “Suspicious activity detected”, “Urgent action required”)

  • Imitate trusted entities, including courier services, government agencies, or even Moneybase employees

Always check the full web address and email sender carefully. The only valid Moneybase domains are:

We only send emails from support@moneybase.com.

Common phishing examples

Here are a few typical messages used in fraudulent SMS or emails:

  • “Suspicious activity was noted on your account”

  • “Your account has been locked – follow these steps to unlock”

  • “Reactivate your account now”

  • “A transaction was attempted from a new device”

  • “Confirm your mobile number to continue”

  • “A large payment was made – was this you?”

  • “Your debit card is on hold, click here to remove the block”

  • “We are updating our security process, confirm your identity”

Scammers may also follow up with a phone call or impersonate customer support agents to gain your trust.
