Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to authenticate 3D Secure ecommerce transactions using the Moneybase mobile app.


Step 1: Download the Moneybase App

To authenticate your transactions, you need the Moneybase mobile app installed on your smartphone. You can download the app from the respective app stores:




Step 2: Install and Set Up the App

  1. Download the App:

    • Click on the appropriate link above for your device.
    • Tap "Install" and wait for the app to download and install on your phone.
  2. Open the App:

    • Once installed, open the Moneybase app.
    • Follow the on-screen instructions to login and set up your account. Ensure you use the correct phone number and passcode.
  3. Enable Push Notifications:

    • During the setup, the app will prompt you to enable push notifications. Make sure to allow notifications, as these are crucial for receiving 3D Secure authentication requests.




Step 3: Making an Ecommerce Purchase

When making an online purchase using your Moneybase Mastercard, the online shop or merchant will initiate a 3D Secure authentication request to ensure the transaction is legitimate. The app will prompt you to open your Moneybase app. Do not close the window as you will need to return to it to complete your purchase.


Step 4: Approve the 3D Secure Transaction

  1. Receive a Push Notification:

    • You will receive a push notification on your phone prompting you to authenticate the transaction.
  2. Open the Notification:

    • Tap on the notification to open the Moneybase app. If you do not see the notification, open the app manually.
  3. Review the Transaction Details:

    • The app will display the details of the transaction, including the merchant name and the transaction amount.
  4. Approve or Reject the Transaction:

    • If the transaction is legitimate, tap "Approve". If it is not, tap "Reject".
  5. Transaction Confirmation:

    • After you approve the transaction, you will receive a confirmation message in the app. You can now return back to the merchant's site to complete the purchase.
    • If you reject the transaction, it will be declined, and no funds will be deducted from your account.





Troubleshooting Common Issues

  • No Push Notification Received:

    • Ensure your phone has an active internet connection.
    • Ensure you are logged in on your app with the same Moneybase account that the card is registered to.
    • Check that push notifications for the Moneybase app are enabled in your phone’s settings.
    • If you still do not receive notifications, open the app manually to check for pending authentication requests automatically.

  • Unable to Approve Transaction:

    • Ensure that your phone has a stable Internet connection. Switch between Wi-Fi or mobile data.
    • Verify that you have entered the correct login details.
    • Make sure your phone’s operating system and Moneybase app are up to date.

  • I've approved the transaction but the purchase failed
    • Approving the 3D Secure request is not enough to complete your purchase. For starters, check that you have enough funds in your account.
    • Open the Moneybase app and check that the card you are using (identify it with the last 4-digits) is not frozen.
    • Also ensure that online transactions are enabled from the card security options, next to the Freeze card icon.
    • A good source of information on why the transaction may be declined is from the transaction itself. Check your Recent Activity on the home and see if there is a descriptive error message.
    • If you've checked everything, you might want to contact the merchant to ensure that they support processing of Mastercard Prepaid cards.
