What is an IPO?

Modified on Thu, 12 Feb at 1:11 PM

IPO stands for Initial Public Offering. It’s when a company sells its shares to the public for the first time and lists on a stock exchange. Companies raise money this way to fund growth or reduce debt.

New bond sales are typically called bond offerings rather than IPOs, but the idea is similar: the issuer raises funds from investors.

You may see opportunities in the app to take part in certain new share or bond issues when available. A more details explanation on Bonds is available here: What is a Bond?
